By default, if you add the sensor to ST without the device handler, you will not be able to trigger on motion, you can only turn the load on and off. The device handler adds the following:
If you need to trigger on the light level, install the SmartApp named "Smart Lighting". This will allow you to trigger on the device LUX value.

Hi everyone.
I thought I would publish these directions sent to me from Enerwave on how to pair the Enerwave ZWN-RSM2 with SmartThings controller hub. Apparently without this handler SmartThings will not see the relay as a dual relay and thus not work correctly. I do not have a ST controller to test this, so these are the directions quoted from the manufactures email. Here are directions on how to correctly do this.
You can then control the 2 loads separately and get status updates instantly. I hope this helps anyone using a SmartThings controller get their products working correctly. Please direct any questions regarding this setup directly to Enerwave as I do not have a ST device to test or confirm. Thank you. So you want to add a person to your Vera Controller. You should add a new user account if you have anyone who wants to use your Vera Automation Controller with a computer or mobile device. If they are currently using someone else's user credentials, it may cause problems. Here is how to do it. You must be an account administrator to do this. If you are not, please contact your Vera Controller administrator for advisement. 1. Log into your controller. 2. Go to the menu and click on the "Users & Account Info" button. 3. Then click on the "Other Users" button. 4. Then Click "Add User" (Top Right) 4. Then add a user name. 5. Then add a user email address. 6. Then add a user password. Password must be at least 8 characters long and include. Include at least one lower case letter. Include at least one upper case letter or number. Include at least one special character. 7. Document this information for logging into the Vera from another device. Please copy and paste this information to document it. 8. Then select an account access level. Please read the details of the account levels. There is a simpler image below to understand this. If you plan on using the Geofence for this person you must select at least "Advanced User" or Account Administrator for the access level. 9. Click the add user button (Lower Right), to add the user to your Vera Controller. Make sure you document your credentials so you can easily log into your Vera with this users credentials you just created.
I use a free password manager called Bitwarden to do this and it works very well. The following directions are how to log into your Vera Home Automation Controller. You can access your home automation controller directly if you know the IP or you can use their relay server via their app or your web browser. Below are directions on how to use the app (Android, IOS) or a web browser too access your controller. From a computer with internet access, do the following.
From an Android tablet or phone, do the following,
From an Apple (IOS) tablet or phone, do the following,
The following directions are how to operate your Vera Home Automation Controller Now that you are logged in to your automation controller, you should be on the "Dashboard" page. To navigate between pages, select the "Menu", located on any page in the top left corner and select the page you want from the menu drop down. Here are the pages you will see and a description on what the contain. Dashboard The Dashboard page is where you can see your controllers alerts, mode information, device shortcuts and any favorites you have created.
Devices The devices page is where you will find all of the devices connected to your controller. You can sort these devices by room, type and list. Please scroll down to learn more about devices. Camera The camera page is where you will see any cameras attached to your controller. Clicking on the camera image will give you the options for that camera and make the camera picture bigger. Geofencing (Mobile Only) The Geofencing page is where your geofencing is set up. Your geofence is the a fence drawn around your home where leaving and entering it will cause your homes mode to change. Please do not go into this section unless you know what you are doing. Scenes The scenes page is where your scenes reside. Scenes are predetermined instructions based on certain events. A scene may consist of turning a light on at 7PM every day. This is where your homes intelligence is and where events are controlled from. To play a scene, tap the play button. To edit a scene, tap the pencil and edit that scene. To add a scene, tap the + Add a Scene button and fill out the necessary information. Operation Now let's learn a bit about your devices and how you can control them. Let's go back to the "Devices" section. Go ahead and explore. Feel free to turn on and off your devices. Please remember that your home controller communicates wirelessly to your devices. Being wireless, these devices may not react instantly. Take your time and give the controller time to react and gather its thoughts so to say. Be patient as there is a lot going on in the background. You might have different devices on your system or different devices attached to your system. Below are some examples. If you are an administrator on your account, please DO NOT DELETE or REMOVE any devices from your system. Light Module If you have a light module, you can see it's current status and turn it on and off by tapping on the On/Off slider.
Electric Door Lock If you have a electric door lock, you can see it's current status, it's battery level, lock it, unlock it and possibly set a pin for people to use.
Thermostat If you have a thermostat, you can see the current temperature of the home and control your HVAC (Heater/Vent/Air Conditioner) as if you were standing right there.
Garage Door Sub Controller You may have your garage door attached to your system. Now you can see the status of it and open it and close it.
Door Window Sensor You may also have your doors or windows attached to your system. You can now see if they are open or closed.
Motion Sensor You may also have motion sensor attached to your system. Now you can see if anyone is moving in your home when you are not home and get notifications if they do.
Smoke / CO Sensor You may also have a smoke detector or carbon monoxide sensor attached to your system. You can see the status of these devices also.
Your new home controller is expandable and can control almost any aspect of your home. Here are more examples of what it can do.
There are lot's of new features on these new controllers. We have some tutorials on our Youtube site and the "How to" section in our web site. Or you can subscribe at our web site via Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or email to get notifications of any new posts. Of course you can always call us if you have any questions. We are here to make sure you get the most out of your new system. Thanks again for the opportunity and we really hope you enjoy your new Home Automation Controller. If you are finding your geofence is triggering when you are home or there is a substantial delay in your geofence triggering a scene, we suggest you increase the size of your geofence radius to compensate for this. It seems there are some differences on how some mobile devices handle their GPS locations with other apps on that device therefore your experience with a geofence can be different depending on the device and service you use.
We suggest using a minimum radius of 150m but if you are experiencing your geofence triggering when you are inside your fence, or delays in scenes triggering when entering or leaving, we suggest you take it to 300m or more. This will give your control system time to get the signal that you have entered or left your geofence. It is pretty easy to do this.
If you would like to see how big your fence is now become, hit the "Back" (Top Left) after saving and you can see the map and how big your fence now is in relation to the roads near your home. If you would like to turn on of off notifications when entering and leaving your fence, check the "Notify" box. Make sure the "This is my home" box is checked if you would like mode changes based on actions with this geofence. This entry will show you how to get your Smartthings hub to work with the dual relays we use our lineup of Z-Wave Outdoor Motion Lighting. (Monoprice 11990 & Vision ZL7432)
First let me say that I am not a ST user nor do we have a ST hub, so we have no way to test our products with this controller and these instructions but apparently they do work. Apparently the Smartthings hub is not equipped to work with these relays that have multi channel command classes built in them. Our entire lineup of Outdoor Z-Wave Motion Sensing Lights went to version 2 a few months back and now uses a multi channel command class to communicate with the controller and for some reason, ST does not know how to handle this without a new handler. First, let me thank JustInTime over at Github for putting this together. Here is his post. Here are the instructions. Custom Device Type for Monoprice 11990 Dual Relay Module The code in this repository will interface with the Monoprice 11990 module in a way that allows both switches to report near real-time status back to the SmartThings Hub. SmartThings ships with a "Z-Wave Device MultiChannel" device type that will (sorta) work, but you'll quickly find that switch 2 doesn't update it's status in the SmartThings app. This device type will do just that. The bulk of the work for this was done by Eric Maycock for the Philio PAN04 module. All I did was remove the parts that didn't work with the Monoprice module and publish it. Special thanks go to him for all of his work. Installation: Install the Custom Device Type. First, we need to install the custom device type into your SmartThings account. Don't worry, this wont hurt a bit.
Install the dual relay adapter SmartAppSmartThings doesn't really allow you to interact with the individual switches on a multichannel device very well. So, we'll be creating two "virtual switches". These virtual switches will look like a normal on/off switch to the SmartThings app, but in reality will just be associated to one of the two switches on our relay. Installing the virtual switches.
This directional guide will instruct you on how to physically install the Envisalink EVL3 or EVL4 into an alarm system, setting it up on your network, how to use it, setting up your Vera pertaining to the EVL and optional eyez-on.com account setup.
Installing an Envisalink EVL to your home alarm system and controlling it with your home controller and or, your mobile device will give you the ability to;
Oh yea, did I mention there were NO monthly fees? What You Will Need:
We have had some reports that the SmartThings hub is not seeing the status of the Enerwave ZWN-RSM1S. We use this relay in our Z-Wave outdoor motion lighting products.
If this is true in your case, we recommend you visit this page and see if this fix, can fix the issue. Please use at your own risk as we have no way to test this potential problem solver. Let us know if it helped you as we would like to know to recommend it to others. In this sample video we show you how we install our Outdoor Z-Wave Motion Wall Lighting. If you would like more information on this and other outdoor Z-Wave Motion Lighting including our line of security flood lights please click on the link below. http://www.007systems.com/z-wave-outdoor-motion-lights.html If you would like the docs form of this video, click here. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RIjDocaMiWm09vpM_Tvx7LESCLBjbViGe8etcyD_n-A/edit?usp=sharing |
